With West Ham being close to their £52 million wage cap, they won't be able to make any signings, unless they sell players.
With departures likely, this has re-linked West Ham with Chelsea frontman Demba Ba. The Senegalese International is already familiar with West Ham, as they were the club who offered him his chance in English football, as others didn't take the gamble on him due to a worrying knee problem; that had caused player problems in the past.
But since coming to England, Demba has proved his worth at West Ham and Newcastle, his time with Chelsea looks set to come to a premature end, hence the reason I didn't include that one.
West Ham fans didn't have long enough to get to know Ba but he most certainly made a huge impact, scoring 7 goals and although we subsequently got relegated; it was great to see that the gamble we took on him paid off!
If Ba could work alongside Andy Carroll this could be a great bit of business, its whether or not he's seen as that by Sam Allardyce. With Carroll being his preferred option upfront, I couldn't see Ba happy playing back-up, he's simply too good for that!
