Iv been reading many reports linking us back to Carlton Cole, a player we released at the end of last season.
With our striker crisis not being resolved; many believe that Carlton returning wouldn't be the worst bit of business we have ever done, the fact that Cole has struggled to find a club since leaving has also fueled the speculation.
I haven't got a problem with Carlton but I believe his release was the right thing for both player and club, if a one year or 6 month contract was somehow sorted out; that wouldn't be too bad but anything longer is a sign of pure desperation from the people at West Ham United.
With the 'Financial Fair Play Rules' hindering any transfer dealings, we had to be careful or face a points deduction, something we can't afford to do!
With it also being reported that we are very close to our £52 million wage cap, I can't see how we could afford to bring Carlton back?
Unless we loan out players or pay some off to leave on a permanent basis, it looks set that we face the possibility of playing the first half of the season with a couple of strikers.
Here's another article I posted about Carlton last month http://avidhammer.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/hammers-to-regret-cole-release.html
