With Carlton Cole being released by West Ham his search for a new club could be over, with Crystal Palace the likely destination. He would remain in London so it's a convenient move for the player and club.
It was right time for Carlton to leave East London with first team chances becoming limited for big forward so I can't say I was devastated to see him go as his contribution had come to an end.
I like many appreciated Cole's effort and at times he showed extraordinary talent, especially with controlling the ball and his finishing; goals against Wigan and Birmingham come to mind; not to mention the fact that he took a wage cut to remain with us when we got relegated and scored a goal in the play-off final at Wembley!
As of late much speculation surrounded Carlton and a new club, with Hull being strongly linked along with a move to Turkey and maybe even a switch over to the MLS, so to see Carlton remain in the Premiership would indicate that the player still thinks he can put in a shift at the top level.
Hopefully the release of Carlton won't come back to bite us because as we all know on his day he can be a sublime player!
