Does Andy Carroll Need Us As Much As We Need Him?

Signing England forward Andy Carroll was a huge statement of intent by West Ham, when the Geordie lad was signed by Liverpool for the breathtaking fee of £35 million it looked certain that Carroll would be donning the England shirt for a long time to come. Things may not have gone to plan for the forward and he now finds himself at West Ham United; hoping to consistently re-discover the form that earned him many admirers.

Towards the latter end of last season; Andy truly showed his worth-and if it wasn't for injury prohibiting him early on in the season; he could have easily reached double figures. With the world cup next year; Andy will be hoping to prove his worth to Roy Hodgson and earn a place in his squad, and although he is currently injured Andy will be sure to make up for any lost time and avoid any more injuries.

We all obviously want Andy to do well throughout his duration with us and although much was made of the Carroll signing; with some saying it proves how far he has plummeted since leaving Newcastle, it makes me wonder; was West Ham the best option for AC?

Lets face it, if we didn't follow up our interest; things would have looked bleak for Andy. Livepool had no interest in keeping the forward and were hoping to make as much money back on him as they could.
Newcastle didn't seem to have any real interest in re-signing him, and I would of been surprised to hear of any other Premier League club willing to take a punt on Carroll. So It could be argued that West Ham did him a favor.

If Andy hopes to regain international inclusion then he needs first team football, West Ham will give him that.
Their was no other team who showed any real interest in Carroll, West Ham wasn't the last option, it was the   only option!
