With West Ham having a very successful pre-season, what have us the fans learnt about our club?
Here are the 3 main things!
Firstly; Ravel Morrison is a huge talent!
Pre-season can either bring the best or worst out of players and with Ravel it most certainly brought out the best, with Ravel being a regular on the scoresheet; all West Ham fans will be hoping that he can continue to knuckle down and impress in the League. Many doubted Morrison upon joining West Ham but he is starting to prove that young players who move on from Manchester United can be successful. If Ravel wants it he can have it!
Secondly: Yes, we do need another striker but Modibo Maiga can score goals! We were only given a small insight into Modibo's talents last season but in pre-season Maiga proved that he could be a worthy replacement/cover for the currently injured Andy Carroll. It looks certain that Maiga will be on the team sheet for next weeks opener against Cardiff-and the Mali international will be hoping to impress while Carroll is out.
Thirdly; You don't need to bring in copious amounts of new players for it to work!
For the first time in years we have been smart with our business, the £15 million spent on Andy Carroll will benefit the player and club immensely. To add to that we have invested wisely in other areas; with Romanian Captain Ravzan Rat being a great free transfer. By no means do I expect our spending to be over just yet but I trust Big Sam to make the right signings, rather than spending for the sake of it. In the past we have brought 'big name' players in who haven't performed well enough and we are still feeling the effects of that, so well done Sam Allardyce and the two David's!
Let me know what you think we have learned this pre-season?
