Worth Looking At?

Yesterday it was announced that ex West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand was released from Championship side QPR. Graduating the famous West Ham youth academy, Anton looked set to follow his brother Rio as a future England international.

Anton left West Ham back in 2008 to join Sunderland in a move that I personally found very disappointing, although at the time we were in financial turmoil so it couldn't be avoided.

As Anton is now a free agent; would he be a welcome addition back to Upton Park?

Admittedly we are quite strong in the defensive area of the field but another body wouldn't do us any harm, after-all injuries happen, fatigue can set in and players dip in form. I wouldn't expect Anton to walk back into the first team by no means but the added competition wouldn't do Reid, Collins or Tomkins any harm.

In a way I feel Anton's career has plummeted since leaving West Ham, when he played for us it looked as if he could one day break into the England team, now he remains without a club and as far away from international glory as he could be.
I'm not sure if nostalgia is taking over here instead of logic but there is a part of me that thinks Anton could still do a good job, he is only 28 and we would get a good few years out of him.

Would you like to see Anton donning the claret and blue of West Ham again?
