Big Sam Celebrates 100th Game With Victory

Big Sam and co will be thrilled after West Ham progressed further into the cup with a hard thought 3-2 victory over Cardiff. The 'Hammers' have already played Cardiff this season in the league and comfortably won 2-0 but this encounter proved how much they have improved in a short period of time.

Malky Mackay issued a warning to West Ham before the game stating that his side were 'much improved' but you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise after Ravel Morrison but the East Londoners up within 20 seconds, soon after it was 2-0 when winger Matt Jarvis drilled in a shot with a slight deflection. Things were looking bad for the 'Bluebirds' until just before half-time when Craig Noone cut across the defense to score a fantastic effort.

After half-time West Ham continued to take the initiative and created many opportunities in the process; but they failed to convert their chances and were forced to pay after Cardiff new boy Peter Odemwingie scored an equaliser. Although West Ham were dominate for most of the game West Ham fans waited in anticipation as they hoped a repeat of Saturdays game against Everton wasn't in the works. On the 88th minute the Claret and Blue army were back up and signing as the once destined to leave Winger/Striker Ricardo Vaz Te converted emphatically from a superb assist from Jack Collison.

Overall a good night for West Ham, a tough encounter but we can definitely take some much needed confidence from this game. Our problem has been lack of goals but judging by the last 2 games I think we need to focus on maintaining a lead!
