Hammers Looking To Petric

Last week West Ham fans expected Carlton Cole to rejoin their team after undergoing a medical with the club, although after being deemed 'unfit' the 'Hammers' have had to move on to other targets and the latest name to be linked is ex Fulham striker Mladen Petric.

Andy Carroll suffered yet another injury what looks set to delay the players comeback, with rumors suggesting the England forward might not be fit until after the new year, a bitter blow for player and club.

Petric has an impressive CV, playing for teams like Broussia Dortmund, Hamburg, Basel and Grasshopper. So the Croatian could offer West Ham much experience upfront. His time with Fulham wasn't ideal as the player failed to replicate the form he showed in Germany and Switzerland but he could be a gamble worth taking for the East Londoners.

I see Petric as one of the best options out there, he's a proven goalscorer who did make a positive impact with Fulham; he just failed to consistently perform and with enough first team opportunities I think he could come good. If he proves his fitness I think a short term contract until the end of the season would suit both parties well, with a year long option to extend if all goes well.

Many Fulham fans rated Petric quite highly at the beginning of the 2012/13 season and he looked like he would be a real bargain, the arrival of Dimitar Berbatov made it difficult for Petric to really establish himself in the first team so he could thrive with the added responsibility of being West Ham's main man.
