Hammers Miss Out On Trio

West Ham 'Vice Chairman' Karren Brady announced that the club had missed out on deals to bring Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner and Chelsea Duo Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku to the club. It should be noted that West Ham only hoped to sing one striker but after being knocked back they had to move on to other targets.

Firstly, I'm very surprised that we couldn't have attracted any of these players. Bendtner has been exiled from Arsenal and looks set to leave either way, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku look surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge for the time being so it's disappointing to think that we can't attract these players to the club by showing them our ambition. Talk is cheap and although we nearly ended up with re-signing Carlton Cole it would have been great to bring Demba back, or Lukaku, I'm undecided on Bendtner, his attitude is always called into question and after we brought in Chamakh last season on loan it didn't really work it for him so I'm not sure it would have for the Denmark international.

Secondly, I thought we were very close to our wage cap?
If true we wouldn't have been able to afford any of the three above!
Unless 'Big Sam' was looking at selling players we would have inevitably had to pull out, and I'm not sure we had much interest in our players.

Although it was a disappointing conclusion on transfer deadline day, I'm content with the business we made.
