One ITV 4 interview got all West Ham fans asking one question 'will Jermain Defoe be returning to West Ham?'
After the soon to be Toronto FC frontman (if you believe recent reports) confessed that he still ''loved'' West Ham, it looked as-if the player some of our fellow Hammer's fans called Judas for many years would return and add some much needed firepower to our lacking frontline.
The move to Toronto will see Defoe reunited with ex teammate and Toronto FC coach Ryan Nelson. It was predicted that Defoe would leave Tottenham in order to play regular first team football to increase he's chances of playing in the upcoming 2014 World Cup, with Andre Villas Boas opting for other attacking options in a Spurs side who like ourselves are seriously lacking goals.
If the reports are confirmed by the player and club I will see this as a missed opportunity.
Although Jermain has a checkered history with our club, its safe to assume that many of us would welcome him back, especially at this moment in time. As I've stated, Defoe would have been a worthy acquisition to our club but it would appear that we have no shortage of targets, with other striking targets being on the agenda it seems as-if Defoe was never a viable option anyway.
Defoe is still a top player but the £6 million price tag would of probably put Sam off anyway so we'll have to move on.
