Day by day We are linked with many different strikers.
Most of the players we are linked with never come close to joining and it proves to be just speculation but a couple of years back Ex Blackburn, Everton, Middlesborough and Portsmouth forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni looked set to join West Ham from Blackburn with it being reported that he was set to have a medical with us but instead he joined Chinese side Guangzhou R&F. Opting for the big money move to China has seen 'The Yak' fall off the radar from many Premier League clubs and it's supporters but since he has been in China he has carried on the impressive goal-scoring record what has seen him make a big impact at his previous clubs. This has got me thinking, would it be worth reigniting the interest we once showed in the Nigerian international?
Although the Yak struggled with fitness at times; he was a proven goal scorer and was deadly in the final 3rd, whoever the opposition were. Wages and all that would have to be figured out as I'm sure he's on a bomb but other strikers we have shown interest in either haven't had any Premier League experience or they will demand a crazy amount of money, and I don't see the point in taking a gamble on another Modibo Maiga.. So we might as-well spend the wages on a player who is proven at Premier League level. At the age of 31 he still has a few years left in him and we could easily opt for a loan deal rather than a permanent one.
Yak, hit or miss?
