Not that long ago; if you brought up the prospect of Mohamed Diame leaving West Ham for another club, many of our fans would have been livid.
After-all, Mo had made an instant impact the claret and blue of West Ham and letting him go would have been seen as a step backwards. Now if you were to ask our fans today, how they would react if Diame left, I'm sure most wouldn't be too bothered.
The player himself has reiterated his desire to remain in the Premier League but hopes to find a club playing in the Champions League. Now judging on his performances in the last year I would say that he is not good enough for Champions League football but that would be unfair because on his day, Mohamed Diame can be an unstoppable force.
At the age of 27, the Senegal captain is most certainly still young enough to go out there and prove his worth at a new club, should it come down to it; and with the arrival of Cheikhou Kouyate, he may find himself doing exactly that. Obviously nothing is set in stone but if a club was to make a decent offer I believe we would take it.
I have no qualms with Diame, when he arrived from Wigan on a free transfer I don't think anybody could have predicted how quickly he would make a positive impact and I think that's the problem.
After making such a positive, energetic start, I feel that it was always going to go downhill from there, as we all hoped that he would maintain that standard of performance. Irregardless as to whether Diame stays or not I will still obviously back him but with new arrivals settling in and more expected I just feel that we can afford to let him go now.
