Can We Expect A Busy Transfer Deadline Day

In just over a hour, the final day of the transfer window will be upon us. Although it's a little known fact that the managers hate it, it never seems to stop them from waiting until the last minute to pay over the odds for players who's value mysteriously go up tenfold.

In recent years, transfer deadline day has proven to be somewhat underwhelming for the hammers, whether it's the second coming of Yossi Benayoun, or the uninspiring impact of recently retired David Bentley, its safe to say that we haven't had the best of luck when it comes to signing a player who can actually make an impact.

I'm not expecting much out of tomorrow, as we have already invested relatively heavily in the squad and I suspect that we are running low on wonga and not to mention the whole 'Financial Fair Play Rules' what will inevitably make it hard for the board to spend any more on wages.

Firstly, it's expected that our recent interest in Micah Richards will continue but the destination of the England and Manchester City right back will be subject of much debate; as it's being reported that ourselves, Newcastle and Sunderland are the 3 main contenders for his signature.

Micah's career has stalled over the last couple of years and Richards has went from a player that was touted as a long term successor to Gary Neville, to a frequent face on the Man City bench. Don't get me wrong, being a back up in a team that posses so much talent is nothing to be ashamed of but if he wants to force his way back into the England set up he'll need to start regularly playing football again, it's worth noting that injuries has also played a big part of 'demise' — and with the recent acquisition of Carl Jenkinson I wonder if Richards is needed.

Concerning departures I can only see one. The player in question Mohamed Diame. Both Qpr and Hull have been admirers of the Senegalese man and it has also been reported that Neil Warnock of Crystal Palace is preparing a £3.5 million bid.
With any luck we'll be able to offload Diame, with the signing of Alex Song I think its safe to assume that we have a perfectly adequate replacement should Mohamed leave.
