Let Reid Go

Singed back in 2010, Kiwi international Winston Reid was completely unknown to many West Ham fans - but in recent times, Reid has proven to be the only good thing to have came out of the dismal reign of Voldermort (aka Avram Grant).

As of late, the future of Winston has been thrust into the limelight with various media outlets and even those close to the club, speculating as to where he will be come the summer time. With his contract being up in the summer it's widely expected that Winston will leave the club on a free.

In his first season he struggled - and came under some ridicule from a section of fans and came close to being loaned out to Cardiff and with our relegation to the Championship it looked a dead cert that the under performing and underwhelming performances of our club, would see the dead weight, including Reid be offloaded. Although this wasn't the case and he was retained by new manager Sam Allardyce - and he has never looked back since, putting in top notch performances and gaining much interest from Premier League rivals such as Arsenal and Liverpool.

Our manager was quoted as saying, in an interview with TalkSport that the contractual situation with Reid is purely a 'money thing'. Which indicates that he is holding out for a ludicrous offer in which our club will not be able to realistically meet.

As much as we all appreciate Winston Reid's contribution at the back, if he doesn't want to don the claret and blue of West Ham anymore, I say let him go! It's blatantly obvious that he is now running down his contract, with intentions to leave in the summer - and I feel that its time that we prepare for the worst case and most likely scenario. The best case scenario is that Reid will be sold in the January transfer market , the reason I don't put the best case scenario as the player signing a new contract, Is because I really can't see that happening at this moment in time.

Replacements are supposedly being lined up and you can expect many more names to be linked with the void that will inevitably be left when the New Zealand captain departs.
