Sky Sports News are reporting that a deal for Estudiantes striker Duvan Zapata is close to completion, with a work permit being the only obstacle in the way.
When the news broke a few days back that we were interested in the Colombian forward it was greeted with apprehension; as Duvan isn't a household name in the world of football, yet anyway!
This is a player that has been the subject of much interest from clubs all across Europe; so the fact that a deal for the forward is virtually done is a big statement from West Ham.
Only 22 Zapata hasn't made an international appearance for Columbia yet although he is predicted to make a breakthrough very soon. In Argentina the forward has a good goal-scoring record and with a fee in region of £6-£8 million being touted you would hope he can make the cut for West Ham.
This is a young man hungry for success, with a move to England being described as a 'dream move.'
Duvan will most certainly be a presence in the 6 yard area and it will do him some good to work alongside Andy Carroll, I don't expect him to make an instant impact as the Argentine League and Premier League are both very different so it will take some getting used to.
Will Duvzan be a good buy, or for the money being mentioned could we have got a player with Premier League Experience?
