Why Barton To West Ham Could Work

Within the last 12 hours it was announced that Sam Allardyce is looking into the possibility of bringing Joey Barton back to the Premiership; to play in his West Ham team.

Initially you can expect a backlash from many within the Premier League, after-all Joey would come with his fair share of problems, most notably his fondness for expressing his feelings on 'Twitter' what has seen him cause quite a stir in the past. At the same time it can be quite entertaining although it could be argued that I'm just saying that because my club has never really felt the wrath or consequences of Barton's actions!

With that being said, when Joey is in the mood to play he can be a real handful for the opposition, it was only  a couple of weeks back that many Qpr fans wanted the player out of their club but with his performance last week against Sheffield Wednesday he received a standing ovation from the crowd. What proves how influential he can be; when he's playing well.

The key factor in this deal would be the link up between himself, Kevin Nolan and Andy Carroll. All three played together at Newcastle and have a good friendship off the field as-well. Some may speculate as to whether or not that is a good thing, I believe it is as good morale within a squad of players is vital and can be the difference between relegation and safety.

There are still many factors to consider with this one, but on the surface this looks like a deal that could work for both. Joey doesn't lack any confidence and will tell you himself that he is 'too good for the Championship' so a return to the Premiership would appeal to him. We also have a very strong midfield as it is without the inclusion of Barton, so unless Big Sam is looking to sell individuals I don't know where he would fit in?
