Bullet Dodged

This evenings game against London rivals Chelsea will most likely end in defeat.  (Sad face)
I hate to admit it but with no proven goal-scorer upfront, I can't see how we'll pick up any points. It would be magnificent for us to replicate the result of last year when we beat Chelsea 3-1 but it looks very unlikely.

Which brings me to ex Chelsea and current West Brom frontman Nicolas Anelka. In the summer we were once again Linked with the 'Incredible sulk' but a deal didn't materialise. With our current problems in the final 3rd I often wonder what might have been. We were linked with many strikers throughout the summer and we are bound to be linked with more come January, we already have.  Players like Jermain Defoe and Demba Ba I would welcome back to Upton Park; as I believe they would do a job for us, whereas Nicolas Anelka would bring more problems than goals.

Anelka's career has been a controversial one and his current move to Midlands club West Brom hasn't really worked out for him so far. He has failed to find the net in over half a dozen performances and has failed to make any sort of impact at the club, falling down the pecking order at the Hawthorns.

He's high wages and often questionable work rate would of proved disastrous and although Sam Allardyce has a knack for getting the best out of the older 'over the hill' players, I'm not sure it would of worked out. With Anelka clearly having no interest in reuniting with Allardyce, so I still don't regret the decision of West Ham not signing him.

Do you think that Anelka would have sorted out our striking problems?
