Results haven't went to plan and the next two games against Fulham and Crystal Palace could decide Big Sam's future at our club. I personally have a lot of respect for Sam and I massively appreciate what he has done for our club but not all fans appreciate what he has achieved. It was inevitable that as soon as results didn't start going our way some fans were bound to turn on him and it looks as-if that has happened.
Although Sam is under pressure, he is a man that is all to familiar with relegations battle and I still have faith in him, for the time being. One thing is for sure, I never expected Sam to be our long term manager. I viewed him as more of a short term fix to a long term problem, in other words I feel he was brought in to sustain some stability-and its safe to say that he did.
With 9 goals scored in all competitions this season our main problem is clearly goals and this is a matter where Sam has to take the majority of the blame, after-all the signing of Andy Carroll seemed a no brainer but not investing in any other strikers has proved to be our downfall so far this season. I know bids where made for players but they apparently turned us down for unknown reasons, was it the worry of playing second fiddle to Andy Carroll? I would assume so!
The 4-6-0 formation worked a treat against Tottenham and we pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the season in a 3-0 drumming of our London rivals but the 'element of surprise' has well and truly worn off. Sam's arrogance is clear and it could be his downfall!
Why bring Carlton Cole back and Mladen Petric to the club not to play them?
Was it a tactic to keep the fans quiet and keep us under the illusion that we are not in turmoil?
Fans will have their own opinion on Sam and they are entitled to it but as I mentioned the next two games are absolutely vital and I can see Big Sam getting the sack if we were to lose them.
