Striker Deal Called Off

Any apparent deal for Peterborough frontman Jaanai Gordon-Hutton appears to be off. 17 year old Jaanai played twice for the for the 'Hammers' in two friendly game scoring two goals in both games.

It looked as-if a deal could be struck with Peterborough in the region of £5 million after the youngster impressed Ian Hendon and Tony Carr; the board was hoping to act quickly to secure a deal but after West Ham manager came back from a break in Dubai, he called the deal off.

It's likely that the money being demanded for a 17 year old who hasn't really made an impression at Peterborough was the main factor in Allardyce pulling out of the deal. You would think that the sum being reported would have been paid in installments rather than the full price all in one go.

With a new striker being needed this deal couldn't of been completed until January at the earliest and it would make more sense to invest that money on a striker who is more likely to score goals now rather than a youngster who is likely to get loaned out a copious amount of times before making any sort of first team impact.

I'm all for buying players for the future but we need a new striker now!
