On Saturday West Ham fans once again witnessed the return of Frank Lampard to Upton Park-and as per usual Frank didn't disappoint the Chelsea fans by scoring two goals against he's former club.
By Frank's reaction you'd think that he just netted the winning goal for England in the World Cup, as he kissed the Chelsea badge further reiterating his love for Chelsea and hatred for the club that gave him he's chance in professional football, West Ham United FC
I was reading Jamie Redknapp's comments on how West Ham fans need to 'get over' their anger towards Frank and 'learn a different tune' which got me thinking are we too harsh on a whole to our former players?
Frank Lampard in particular.
Ex players like Joe Cole, Carlos Tevez and Paolo Di Canio receive a hero's welcome whenever they have returned to Upton Park. Whereas players like Jermain Defoe and Frank Lampard are welcomed back with a chorus of boo's.
Us West Ham fans are very passionate and appreciative people, we respect the players that work hard and put in a shift and we'll make our feelings known when they do or don't. When Lampard and Defoe left to our London rivals it was a real kick in the teeth but I believe it's the way they conducted their business what has really left a bad taste in our mouth; even after all these years.
I've never had a real problem with Frank but when you witness him continuously score goals against us and celebrate right in front of our fans I can't help but sometimes jump on the bandwagon.
So to surmise, I believe some of our 'disliking' towards Frank is completely justified, at times I haven't always agreed with our fans treatment but Frank hasn't made any strides to rebuild his reputation with the West Ham faithful now has he?
