Nolan Is Getting Surpassed, And Quickly!

Kevin Nolan is a player I have always admired, for every club he has played for he's always put in a shift and been the nucleus of the team, even with West Ham!

I was made up when we brought him and genuinely surprised If I'm honest, a top performing Premier League player willing to drop down a league, it rarely happens. Although now we are starting to see why Newcastle decided to let him go; rather than offering Nolan a 5 year contract extension. Did Alan Pardew know something we didn't.

So far this season Kevin has been pretty poor, we could blame it on the fact that we haven't had a striker to hold the ball up and provide the knock downs for him but there is something different about him, he looks distant and has been struggling to make a positive impact. Many fans have been calling to have Nolan benched and let somebody else have a proper chance.

Well, last night witnessed that, after the seemingly 'undropabble' Kevin Nolan was benched at half time. A sight many of us didn't expect to see as even when Kevin isn't performing he very rarely gets benched that early on. As of late we have seen players like Ravel Morrison and Joe Cole frequently out performing our captain but they are still not guaranteed a first team spot, could that be about to change?

When Andy Carroll returns we might see the return of the Kevin Nolan who can actually make a decent impact but for now we are going to have to wait I'm afraid.
