A Year On

It's roughly a year to the day since the prodigal son Joe Cole returned to West Ham.

The return of Joe was quite fitting really, a product of our famous youth academy who went on to make it big was going to don the claret and blue of West Ham once again. Its safe to say that the fans were eager to see if Cole could re-discover the form that had seen if propelled into the limelight at such an early age.

So, has the return of Joe Cole been worth it?

Since returning Joe has found the net on a few occasions and has sometimes been the difference for the team but apart from that he has struggled with injuries and the questions remains of will he be offered a new contract in the summer, when he's current deal is set to expire?

Joe can play all across the midfield and was most frequently played as an attacking midfielder in his early days, now being preferred as a winger by manager Sam Allardyce.

With Cole signing last January on an 18 month contract it's being reported that we are unlikely to offer him a new contract-and with Qpr manager Harry Redknapp still reportedly interested in signing Cole it look's set as if he's return to West Ham may be short lived.

I personally feel that Joe still has something to offer but I wonder if our fans judgement might be slightly clouded due to Joe's past with our club.
Realistically Joe hasn't been outstanding since returning but at the same time he hasn't been terrible either and does out current style of play make it harder for him to really get involved?

Not to mention the fact that the gaffer doesn't seem to have a lot of faith in him by regularly substituting early on in games if he hasn't had much involvement!

So back to my earlier question, a year on after Joe Cole returned, has it been worth it?
