Over the last couple of days it was announced that West Ham were one of many clubs that missed out on the signing of Leeds striker, Ross Mccormack, with the Scotland international penning a four year deal with fellow London club Fulham.
Ross has been prolific these last few seasons; in the Championship with Leeds and will no doubt carry his goal scoring record over to Fulham - but for a fee that is believed to be close to £11 million, I can't say that I'm too disappointed that we missed out on this deal!
£11 million is an obscene amount of money for a player who isn't proven at Premier League level and although the deal will probably be based on how many goals he scores and if Fulham get promoted I still think it's a lot of money. Think back to the January transfer window when we were heavily linked with Mccormack, the fee being touted only 6 months ago was £5 million, a realistic amount I would say, so I'm not sure where the another 6 million came from but I'm sure Leeds won't be complaining.
The likely hood is that our interest in Ross probably started and ended in January.
I know many people criticise our way of football and at 5 ft 9 it's hard to see where Ross would have fitted in to Big Sam's preferred style of play.
At 11 million, our money could be better invested elsewhere so I'm happy this one has been put to bed.
