The latest in a long list of players linked with our club is Ukrainian international Yevhen Konoplyanka. Now unlike most of the other players we are linked with, it would appear that there is genuine interest in the Dnipro Dnipropestrovsk winger and reports are suggesting that we have tested the clubs resolve to keep him with a £9.5 million offer.
Now the club are expected to hold out for £12 million and whether or not we are willing to pay that remains to be seen but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
Yevhen is a quality player who has earned many admirers for his versatility, pace and ability to find the killer pass. All of those attributes I have just mentioned; are things that our current squad are seriously lacking and have lacked for the last few years now. Starting his international career back in 2010, he has 4 years worth of international experience behind him and that's not including his appearances for the under 21's, under 19's etc...
With Tottenham, Liverpool and Machester United all fellow Premier League side's who have been linked with Yevhen's signature its safe to say that we have some stiff competition but the way I look at it is that we can offer him first team football and good money to go along with with it. The fact that he can play on either wing is an added bonus, the signing of Matthew Jarvis was supposed to suffice but sadly enough it hasn't went to plan as of yet.
I would personally love this deal to be pulled off and I genuinely believe that we have a good chance of signing him.
