With the departuresof players like Matthew Taylor, Jack Collison and George McCartney you'd think that West Ham wouldn't be looking to get rid of any other players - but that isn't the case, as Alou Diarra and Modibo Maiga look set to leave the club this summer.
This news won't surprise many; as both players have failed to settle in at West Ham, over the last couple of years and moving them on is not only seen as a good move for the players but a good move for the club also.
It's being reported from sources close to the club that both players have not travelled with the squad for their pre-season tour of France.
With both players being left out of the tour it's a clear indication that they are surplus to requirements at our club and here's hoping they can be sold! Its thought that a loan move would tempt the hammers but a permanent move away would be more desirable. It's highly unlikely that we will get any money for either, which is something that will no doubt disappoint the club.
With any luck both players will be moved on and won't remain a burden to our wage budget, as in recent years we have had far too many like that. With Maiga he has been given enough chances to prove his quality and it clearly hasn't worked out for him, even a loan move to the Championship with Qpr was dismal, to say the least.
Whereas with Diarra he proved more of a let down, a player who has been there and done it - but looked seriously unwilling and unmotivated, often citing his move to West Ham as a 'mistake'. The guy makes 'the incredible sulk' himself, Nicolas Anelka look like Mr Motivator, so good riddance!
