Maiga Loaned To FC Metz

West Ham Striker Modibo Maiga has joined French Ligue 1 side Metz on a season long loan deal, with a further option to buy the player at the end of the season.

Since Joining West Ham back in 2012, Maiga has failed to make any real impact with the hammers and it was widely speculated that he was offered a pay off; earlier on in the summer transfer market but he rejected it.

It is thought that Metz will be paying just 20% of his £30.000 a week wages, so although it doesn't make a huge difference to our wage bill at least the player will be getting some first team football rather than playing with the reserves or youngsters.

After spending the last half of the season with Qpr it was obvious that the Malian's time in East London was well and truely up. Many will consider Maiga to be a flop and it would be hard to argue otherwise but it's worth noting; that he was playing in a very unfamiliar formation and Premiership football is very different from Ligue 1 and far more intense at that.

I wish Modibo all the best and I hope he can make positive impact at Metz!
